REVIEW: HOP

Hop Movie PosterI took my little munchkin to the movies today, he has been wanting to see HOP since he first saw the bunny poop jelly beans on the trailer many months ago! He loves going to the movies and while it is fun for him it is always a bit of a sore spot for me. It seems that most of the movies that are put out directed at children are loaded with violence, inappropriate language and innuendo that I wouldn’t necessarily want my 5 year old exposed to. Despicable Me for example was not my favorite movie given the number of times I heard the word “stupid” and “idiot” among other things. Since HOP came about from the very same creators of Despicable Me I was a little bit apprehensive about taking him to see it, especially after seeing the warning about violence in the ratings. I had however made a promise and it is a G-rated movie so we went and I was pleasantly surprised. The language was appropriate, the story was cute and the violence that was indicated in the rating really was very minimal. My son was laughing out loud in several parts of the movie and so was I, Russell Brand, James Marsden, Hugh Laurie, and Hank Azaria all did an excellent job! There were even cameo appearances by David Hasselhoff and Chelsea Handler! We highly recommend you HOP on over to your local movie theatre and see HOP with the entire family, you’ll be glad you did. You may not ever look at a jelly bean the same way though.
