Summer has been taking a little bit longer to arrive this year but even with the unseasonably cooler temperatures we have been trying to plan a trip to as many of the Water Slide parks in BC as possible only to find out that a number of our favorite sliding destinations have been shut down. It was very sad to discover that the water slides I had spent many a summer sliding on as a kid in Victoria closed down after 25 long years in business and that wasn’t all, the slides in Kelowna and Penticton have also shut down! After shedding a tear or two over how short my list of sliding destinations had become I decided to ask a few of the experts “Where have all the water slides gone?”
The consensus seemed to be the high cost of running a park of this nature. Liability insurance rates are astronomical coupled with the need for sufficient staffing and the other side of that sword the difficulty in keeping sufficient quality staff on the payroll. There are so many factors that can be causing these watery wonderlands to close down so enjoy them while they are here because you never know when the taps will be turned off for good at another one of the water slide parks on our already short list.
