How Star Wars Saved My Life
December 6 @ 8:00 pm - December 10 @ 10:00 pm
Some Assembly is proud to be producing and presenting ‘How Star Wars Saved My Life’, written and performed by Nicholas Harrison. Some Assembly’s Valerie Methot is thrilled to be the dramaturg and director of this new Canadian play.
How Star Wars Saved My Life is a true story about a child from age five to nine who endured and survived sexual and physical abuse at the hands of priests. Using the power of pop culture’s iconic Star Wars, this important Canadian play reveals how the film was integral to this child’s coping with abuse, giving a sense of hope that good can triumph over evil. With the play’s multiple roles all performed by Nicholas Harrison – the playwright himself, How Star Wars Saved My Life advocates for children’s rights.
How Star Wars Saved My Life is created thoughtfully, dramatically and theatrically using humour in appropriate moments. This production is supported by a team of theatre professionals: Ken Hollands (technical director/production manager), John Webber (set/lighting designer), Ken Lawson (composer/musician), and Flick Harrison (film maker).
The play is approximately 80 minutes with a 15-minute talkback.
