We have been participating in Operation Christmas Child for the past 5 years. We were first introduced to the Samaritan’s Purse project when the boy went to kindergarten. Packing the shoeboxes was a huge focus during the weeks leading up to the holidays in the Primary school. The boy and I had a great time shopping for gifts to put in the shoeboxes and talking about how fortunate we are to be able to help others. He was positively gleeful to deliver his filled shoeboxes back to school each year.
Operation Christmas Child has been gifting shoeboxes for 23 seasons and has blessed over 110 million children since 1993. The filled shoeboxes are collected and distributed to more than 100 countries, on 6 continents and deliver a message of love and joy to the children receiving them. Through Operation Christmas Child doors are opened for Samaritan’s Purse to provide children, families, and communities with access to clean water, food, clothing, shelter, medical assistance and more.
The Operation Christmas Child campaign is on right now and they can use your help. Pick up a shoe box, pack it and drop it off at a local collection centre (find one here) before November 22nd or new this year you can pack a shoebox on-line year round.
