Summer is a wonderful time to spend with the family doing all of the local things you don’t have time for during the school year…in theory. Lets face facts with 70+ days to fill with activity before the lazy days of summer give way to the hectic back to school season you are going to hear the dreaded “I’m bored” at least a few times.

The first Saturday in May is like Christmas in our house, unfortunately I have to miss out this year but the grandparents are armed with a list of local locations to hit up for the long awaited Free Comic Book Day. The boy looks forward to this day with almost as much anticipation as his own birthday, it’s that spectacular.
Local comic book shops have an array of free comic books up for grabs, while supplies last and most of the time they also have characters and other cool activities happening at the same time.
Free Comic Book Day is quite the event in our family- we get up early and plan the locations that we are going to hit up first.
