I will always remember the Remembrance Day ceremony we held in my elementary school gym year after year. All of the classes would make their poppy out of tissue paper, felt and pipe cleaners and we would all gather in the gymnasium and while sitting cross legged on the shiny wooden floor we would recite “In Flanders Fields” in unison. To this day that poem has stuck with me, and I love reciting it with the boy, it still give me goosebumps and brings a tear to my eye. I’m so grateful to all of the men and women who have served and given their lives for our freedoms. This year we are heading out to pay our respects properly at one of the many ceremonies happening around town, this year we will honor my great uncle Lawrence and my grandfather along with all who stood beside them on the battle fields.

I will be at the “must eat” event of the year in the Fraser Valley on Sunday for the Great BC Bake Off. This annual event is part of the BBQ off the Bypass event that has been going strong for 11 years.
I’ll be on site ready to judge all of the pies and tarts entered into the Great BC Bake Off before I venture out to see all of the competing BBQ teams that travel from across North America to attend this Fraser Valley event. The dress code for this event is definitley stretchy pants to make sure you can comfortably try all of the finger licking good BBQ samples and delicious treats. I’m fairly certain I won’t be heading home hungry.
Who’s joining me off the Bypass for some BBQ?
