Welcome to the Peaceful Parenting Challenge Blog Carnival: Week #5 – Practicing Presence
This post was written for inclusion in the 10 Week Peaceful Parenting Challenge Blog Carnival hosted by Prenatal to Parenting. This week our participants have written about Practicing Presence.. We hope you enjoy this week’s posts and consider joining us next week when we share about a week of Developing Positive Self-Talk.
Who knew it would take a 6 hour drive to a beautiful mountain resort with laptop, iPad, and iPhone in tow only to find out they DON’T HAVE WIFI to get me to practice presence!
I admit it it I am a techno junkie and I need help!
My weekend getaway was supposed to be partly work and partly play but with no wifi to speak of it turned into a whole lot of play and it’s just what we needed.
I didn’t realize until I put my own gadgets down how many people are walking around glued to some sort of screen or another letting the world pass them by as they retweet or share posts from others who are out experiencing new and exciting things.
Technology is a wonderful thing but I am starting to feel the life sucking effects of it all. I dream of more weekends and maybe if I throw caution to the wind a week night or two with no gadgets and nothing but old fashioned conversation and one on one time with people who matter in my off line life.
This past week I have learned so much about myself, my son, my uncle, my friends and my parents that I now know almost as much about my own family as I do William and Kate and the Kardashian klan.
Being present has brought me peace and clarity this week and I kind if like it.
Who knew no wifi would be a blessing in disguise?
